New Season Off to a Great Start
The Sacramento Amazons took on Motherlode in their season opener on Saturday, January 30. The 3:50pm kick off was part of the Kick Off Tournament held by the Sacramento Valley Rugby Foundation. The tourament itself, is the largest of it's kind in all of the Nation. Over 2,000 spectators were at the tournnament through out the day. Motherlode showed great improvement from last season but were no match for the Amazons in losing their league opener 46-0. Angela Ve'evalu, Loa Fauolo and Neni Green each scored a couple tries each.
The Amazons look poised to have another great season. Saturday's game displayed the team's balance of experience and youth, with a total of 6 players under the age of 15years old getting playing time.

A new year, a new attitude, endless possibilities.
There have been alot of changes these past few months for the Amazon Rugby Club. We have added an Under 15 team for girls ages 11-14. Its been fun to see a whole new generation of girls learn Rugby. With these girls learning the game so early, it will be interesting to see how they improve over these upcoming years.
Inoke Waqavesi has taken over as the Coach of the Women's team allowing Sefesi Green to focus on our Under 15 & Under 19 teams. Coach Noke will be also be assisting Coach Fesi with the U19 team along with Siu Green, Sela Langi, Mele Green, and Mila Green.
We are ALWAYS on the lookout for new players, whether or not you've played before, if you would like to play for our U15, U19, or Women's teams email us at AmazonRugbyCA@aol.com.
